If you've got a Mini 9 with the Dell 5530 HSPA / Mobile Broadband module, here's what you need to know to get it going:

  3. Following mbbrocks' instructions... download and installed the modem script, enter the connection information (above) into Network Preferences, click Apply then hit Connect.
If the Dell 5530 modem does not appear in the left hand column automatically, click the '+', select 'Dell Wireless 5530 HSPA Mobile' from the 'Interface' list. There are two entries for the internal 5530 modem, I selected the first one.
That sounds great! Can you just confirm what version of VMC for Mac you are using please? When I did this before, the app would cause a kernel panic....

Any chance you have accidentally uploaded the file somewhere? Vodafone global website only have v2.11.06.00 on... And I still get a kernel panic with that.

Ooops.... http://www.mediafire.com/file/umyvzoooddz/vmc3.zip
pwd is: mydellmini.com

FYI: VMC 3.01.04.00 does not work with, or have drivers for, the Mini9's internal 5560 WWAN card.

Yeah, I re-read your earlier post and realised I'd misunderstood. Never mind though, At least we now have a VMC app that works properly with the Mini 9 and doesn't crash the OS.

All we need now is a driver for the damn thing and we're laughing... where's Bmaltais and Meklort when you need them? I'm sure they must have got 2-finger scroll sorted by now...

VMC comes with drivers for the following: Huawei, Novatel Wireless 3G, Option USB & ZTE

There's another utility out there for Huawei E220/E270 modems called CheetahWatch. It sits in your menubar and lets you start/stop the connection, shows signal strength and monitors data usage. The source is available, so maybe someone can figure out how to get it working with the internal 5530.... once they've finished with 2-finger scrolling...

UPDATE:
Here's an app that can track data usage: SurplusMeter. It has lots of options to match your billing cycle, and it's free! -- tutorial/review here

@janek did you try this?:

@rakmini: yes, i did. no dell wireless 5530 HSPA is listed in adding new interface.
only Eth, BT, Airport, VPN...
edit: is there a way i can check if my dellmini has the wireless hspa mobile modem?
edit2: i don't have in my dell the WWAN module, as can be seen on http://labsix.net/mini9. but there is a slot for SIM next to the battery...
