[Edited to include working link to NBI file] [04/19/13]
This guide will show you how to create a bootable OS X installation USB flash drive using your PC. (For use with Dell Mini 10v, and Dell Mini 9.)

If you are new to Hackintosh, check out this thread before you install:...

I'm stumped. I really can't think of why you're having this issue. Especially considering it'll work on another system.

Is there an alternative to TransMac? My trial period has run out. I tried to install Mac OS X once and it didn't work out. I didn't get a chance to try again before the trial period was over.

a google search on this suggests UltraISO.. however, i'm not sure on it, i believe it's only able to see the 4 gig boot camp portion of the disk, not the installer.

i seem to remember mention of a program called alcohol, as an alternative as well- but can't verify ATM..

my best suggestion is find a different pc to download transmac to. borrow one if you have to.. for an hour or two...

cheers.

I have ended up having to do a fresh install of windows on my home pc to get transmac to work properly. Also I think its a good Idea to do a full format of the usb stick if you first attempt goes wrong, as transmac doesnt seem to write properly to a usb stick with both windows and Mac file systems present at the same time. I need help.!

---------- Post added at 09:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 PM ----------

Hey so I used your method to install OSX 10.6.3 with my macbook on my dell mini 9 and it all worked great, then all the sudden today it wasnt working, it wouldnt get wifi, and weird things happened with the top bar so I restarted and it wouldnt start... it just went to the dell screen then a black screen with a little white bar spinning, so I put the usb drive back in and tried to erase and re-install, it makes it halfway through the install and then nothing.... what do I do? Please help me! I am new to this and extremely frustrated after searching through here for hours I have nothing... im about to throw this thing out the window.

Default Blank screen

When I try and boot the screen just come up with a flashing underscore. Anyone had the same problem?

Edit: Found the solution. I still had a leftover EFI partition from a previous install so when I reformated my HDD with GParted it then booted fine.

Default iso file

So im having trouble making a copy of the osx dvd. I followed the instructions and pretty much got stuck where you open transmac and right click to format.
I made 2 copies with clonecd but when i open up transmac none of the copies show up. I made sure everything was exactly how it was in the instructions.

Also want to add that when i make another clonecd the files are there but not when i open transmac.

Help me out guys, im positive its a case of newb simple mistake but im just completely stumped.

To my thinking this is due to 1 of 3 things. Not looking in the right place, a settings issue, or possibly a corrupt iso. Try dragging the iso to the desktop, and point transmit to it that way. If still no luck, choose the "files of all types" option. You could also try changing the .iso extension to .img , previous guides suggested doing that. But, as it didn't make a difference when I did this for myself, I opted to exclude that from this guide.

If you start over, try using a different name when you create the iso.

I remember having a strange sort of bug with clonecd where it would go through the process, but only create the .DVD file, which is useless for our purposes. I deleted the file, and started over. I wonder if this might be related to that.

I know of other members using Roxio to create the iso. But I have no direct experience with it. I do know that some programs only see and copy the bootcamp partition, and that won't help (it's only about 4 gigs instead of 8).

ok so your right and i figured out the mistake. I didnt realze cdclone doesnt work with windows 7 so yea..... haha.... that was the problem it wasnt making any copy at all. Window 7 users beware, get a diffrent program that works with win7. thanks a lot im going to give that roxio a try because some of the ones i found only do part of the disk and not all, any other sugestions besides roxio?

I really don't know of other alternatives. And this is the first I hear of clonecd not working in win7. But hopefully Roxio will do.

Gl.

edit: so this is a bit strange... download.com list clonecd for xp and vista, not win 7. the developer www.slysoft.com lists it for all three, but it's the same version number. check out their site's download to see if it's any different.
