HI I dont' know if i'm posting this on the right forum since this is not a dell mini and is just a normal pc but I really need help as I really want to install mac os x 10.6.3 on my pc and I'm failing. First of all I have these specifications: Motherboard: AsRock P4i65G CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 2.66Ghz single core socket 478 VGA: Nvidia Geforce 6200 512MB RAm: 2 GB Hard Disk: Maxtor 6Y080L0 80GB connected with IDE with one partition currently formatted for windows XP: current OS but I can format it to two partitions so that it holds XP and os x snow leopard Monitor: Acer 19-inch VGA Network Card: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family FAst Ethernet NIC OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 So I'm trying to install OS X snow leopard 10.6.3 from the USB we set up. First I enter the usb and boot from the NBI and I then I choose the other usb with os x but all i see is the arch=i386 and 10.6.2 or newer with 64-bit kernel and that stuff. Then I also downloaded an iboot disk (it's like the nbi) and from the iboot menu i chose the os x pendrive but all I saw was a screen with an apple logo appear and no loading circle and nothing. I tried entering PCIRootUID=1 and -x for safe mode but still the same. thanks a lot for any help, I don't know why this is happening maybe because of the old hardware and maybe my cpu doesn't support 64-bit but please I really need help.

Thats the latest info I know of. Your hardware may be older. There are two earlier builds on that site as well. Search there. Other sites you may find helpful: insanelymac.com and kexts.com But I'd start out with the lifehacker stuff GL

Hi i'm sorry to ask again but the lifehacker tutorial was the first one I followed and since my hardware is old and my DVD-drives are not connected in sata, since they're connected with IDE I couldn't continue with it because the apple logo screen (without loading bar) was coming up and thought that was the problem. So than I turned up to this site where you used a USB and thought this was perfect for me but now I'm encountering the arch=i386 problem. I don't really know what to do else I even reformatted the drive to one since in other comments I noticed that having another bad partition could lead to this problem. I am not really a pro especially on kexts so I don't know what to do to repair the problem with changing kexts and I would really appreciate any help but if you couldn't do anything don't worry I know maybe this isn't the right forum for my problem. Thanks a lot keithwars

Oscar - I am in my 16th hour of attempting to install OSX 10.6.3 on my Mini 9. Following your guide, install has finally commenced. Cheers from New Zealand. (I'm sure their are more issues to come but at least it's installing.) I followed a number of other guides on this site and elsewhere with no success. I am a reasonably competent user, no problems working with partions, booting to linux etc, but this was by far the most difficult process I've ever been through. I'm aware different guides work for different people. For what it's worth, I would swear using CloneCD and Transmac made the difference. InfraRecorder and Disk Imager were much quicker, but never successful for me. Thanks for your efforts.

Oscar thanks for guide. Been using your dual boot on my 10v mini with xp and snow leopard 10.6.3. However girlfriend downlaoded automatic update and now can't boot back into OSX. It gets to the macintosh HD icon but keeps rebooting. I can go into XP but when i try recovery in OSX i get the message: unable to patch 64 bit kernel. Please use arch i386 to use a 10.6.2 or newer kernel. can't find y Is there a simple way to get it back without losing files? preferably in simple terms. Thanks

Thanks for the guide. Trouble is, it's REALLY slow, i can't even watch a SD youtube video without it being choppy badly? The whole os in general is just slow, i've seen videos on youtube with osx running on the 10v and they seem alot quicker than mine, any ideas how to speed it up? Running on a standard 10v.
