| I can confirm that NBM/NBI 0.8.3 RC1 does not work with this method. The NBI app throws up a kernel panic at "generating extension caches," which requires a restart and destroys the OS (instant kernel panic on gray apple screen). Had to remove the HD and reinstall the OS from scratch. I tried NBM/NBI 0.8.2, but NBI still crashes at "generating extension caches." Tick/untick dsdt file option makes no difference. I have a theory this might be a result of my N280 (1.66ghz) processor, which differs slightly from the standard N270. Any ideas? Is there a way I can install all the NBI stuff without running NBI?

| That is correct. (though I boot up into 10.6.1, to be precise).

| Okay, before you load NBI you have a working OSX 10.6.1, what is not working at this point? (I am trying to see what NBI add that makes it crash)

NBI 0.8.2 always crashes at the same point: "generating extension caches." The kernel panic at this point destroys the OS, making it impossible to boot up again. Afterward, I need to reinstall the entire OS from scratch. Hence my question: is there a way I can install all of the NBI 0.8.2 fixes without using NBI?

| Just finished installing my apps and applied the 10.6.1 update. About to fix permissions and run NBM then shutdown and reinstall into my mini. Wish me luck! |

| 0.8.2 keeps crashing at the same point for me. It actually completed once, but that was it. I think I had hibernation unticked at the time. Other than that time it kernel panics at the generating extension caches bit. |

| Everything installed without a hitch. Everything works...I am having issues with it after it goes to sleep. It froze upon wake up, forcing a hard reboot, but I have only tried it once. I'm going to repair permissions and give it another go. Thanks Jacques for the great instructions! ![]() ---------- Post added at 01:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:51 AM ---------- Ok...seems USB Legacy support got re-enabled somehow. Went in and fixed it and confirmed that the change did save. Sleep works now, but no sound after sleep, and bluetooth became unavailable after wakeup. Restarting the system brings the sound and bluetooth back. |

I still donツエt know, how to solve the random kernel panic problem. The system crashes when I download big files (such as iwork testversion) or during the timemachine backup. If anybody knows, how to solve that problem, please let me know. But even with those issues Iツエm already enjoying my little mac! |
