| Want to let everyone know that 10.6.2 does not support the Atom Processor. If you are running software update and just letting it do it's thing automatically, you might run into a problem. As far as I know, other updates will work just fine. Again, DO NOT RUN THE 10.6.2 UPDATE! Not sure what the results will be, but Dullguy, this may be why you ran into a problem. I'm far from an expert in the hackintoshing arena, but I suspect that you may need to go back and reinstall from scratch unless you have a backup. I have been running 10.6.1 since this past Thursday evening, and things are working really well. MarcG Quote:

| There is a working fix for 10.6.2 support and Atom processor. Use NBI 0.8.3RC4 - there's a patch in Chameleon that will report the CPU to the kernel as a non-atom. I'm running 10.6.2 with RC4, no issues so far. Important - update to RC4 BEFORE installing the update to 10.6.2. |

| I'm not convinced that I should upgrade to .2 yet. Although it works in current form, the impression I got from Meklort was he needed to wait for Apple to release the source code to really tweak it correctly. I'm not sure if the workaround (8.3rc4) allows full capability between the kernel and OS 10.6.2 or if it simply the same as running a .1 kernel. In other words if there are upgraded features in .2 that relies on the .2 kernel, your not getting it if 8.3rc4 is the same as running a .1 kernel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

| Minor point here. I've had some trouble the last week ... wasn't careful and upraded improperly ... any way, back to 10.6.1 happily running smooth ... but my up and right arrow keys are not working ... any ideas on why that might be? I've tried everything I can think of but I'm at a loss at the moment ... it's pretty minor but irritating nonetheless ... ---------- Post added at 01:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:33 PM ---------- Quote:
I just (well about a week or so now...) made the same mistake (upgrading to 10.6.2) and all I did was take the HD out and put it on an intel Mac and 'upgrade' to 10.6.1 and everything just returned to normal ... except my arrow keys that is .... RR

| Thanks very much for the excellent guide, worked virtually perfect for me. My only thing is that every 4-5 times it hangs on startup. I think this might be because I totally forgot to upgrade to 10.6.1 when I had my HDD plugged into the dock so I'm running 10.6.0 right now. Is it hard to update to 10.6.1 from having everything set up or do I have to take out the HDD and start from scratch? One other thing is that I disabled sleep in the RC3 options...is it pretty safe to use, other than restart, if I turn sleep back on? thanks! |

| Fix for "Restart after Sleep": OSXRestart.kext - restart after sleep (10.6 only) Confirmed working on my 10v, Meklort also tested and working on his end as well

| thanks very much! Did the trick perfectly. I'd love to see this tutorial updated for RC4 / 10.6.2 ...I'm not even sure if doing the kernel hack is a good idea, is it as risky as downgrading BIOS, for instance? |

| Hi New here, seriously considering getting a Mini 10v and putting SL on it, as a die hard mac user it'd be handy to have another machine with SL so that when my wife is using the MBP I can still get online. My question is I have a spare MBP HDD in an enclosure from when upgraded my MBP to 500GB. Can I install SL on this and fit it into the Mini and keep the original Mini HDD with windows on it in case I have a warranty issue? Or are they a different type of connection? ![]() thanks J. |

| I'd second that, as my 10v arrived today. I got my mini 9 running 10.6.1 fine, but I am more worried about this install. A "from the top" noddy guide would be most useful. |

| got my 10v last night and had hacked an running in about 4 hours (mainly took that long from reading and re-reading stuff/deliberating) I followed this guide Method 4 - Direct Install from Mac to SSD/HDD | Guides | OS X | mechdrew and it's all seems to be running flawlessly, no issues with sound or sleep, all USB works. I installed 10.6.1 and my mini came with BIOS 06. Very Happy |
