Default How to setup Snow Leopard on mini 10v with A06 BIOS - 09-11-2009, 12:06 AM

SL won't install the normal way with A06 BIOS it gives KP all the time I didn't want to downgrade Bios as I have had a mini 10 stop responding on the downgrade and the MB is "Fornication Upon Consent of the King" after this happens so I won't take the chance again apparently this happens...

So far, I did a fresh install each time I got a failure. My last installs were made on a USB key in order to limit 'screwdriving' on my dell. At one moment, I wondered if I could install the OS on the SSD of my dell straight from my USB key. I used CCC, and it failed, hence my question. Yes... maybe should I have tried DiskUtility instead.

but now, I'll try a fresh install on my SSD.

Well... you didn't tell it to me, but to another contributor to the forum. on my dell, running NBI (even 0.8.2) leads to a KP. so, it seems that a solution is indeed to run it from my MBP only for the 3 first ticks, then to re-run it from my dell for the remaining ticks. That's the only way which has worked for me so far...

exact. on my machine, i have had no problem so far with NBM0.8.2

yes. this is exactly what i did. i generated the dsdt file from my dell (it is the 4th tick when running NBI).

thanks for these explanations!

humm. if i run NBI0.8.2 on my dell, ticking
- install chameleon
- install general extensions
- generate dsdt
sure it will lead to a KP.

so far i've been running NBI0.8.2 on my MBP ticking
- install chameleon
- install general extensions
- show netbookinstaller files
then (only then) from my dell
- generate dsdt
- and other ticks below

so, if i follow well your post, the next step would be
- install general extensions from NBI0.8.3 first from my dell, and if it fails then from my MBP.

is it what you mean?
kind regards

Thanks, jacques. I just ended up manually reinstalling my apps and settings. I do notice that I get KP every once in a while, no known reason why but it's much more rare. I can work on my Hackintosh for hours then put it to sleep, wake it, work another few hours and then it will randomly KP, but it is a very minor inconvenience and well worth having SL on my 10v.

After everything is up and running pretty stable should I change the boot options so enabled or disable stuff like bluetooth, usb legacy, usb wake or just keep them all disabled as before? Right now I still have them all set to DISABLED (since I don't have bluetooth).

Thanks again for all your help! I'm sure the process will become a lot more stable in the future on the 10v a06! Until then, I guess we still have people like yourself who help us beginners.

Default Netbookinstaller 8.3 RC3

Guys
whats the problem with 8.3RC3
Did a install by removing HD and using netbookbootmaker 8.3.RC3 & followed it with installing netbookinstaller 8.3 RC3 after placing it back in the mini 10v
NO KP EVERYTHING WORKED LIKE A DREAM
SOUND after sleep yes
restart after sleep yes
Only activating bluetooth causes sleep-restart problems
Otherwise it rocked

Default my install succeeded, provided parts of NBI were run from a true Mac

i made the install on my SSD following the above steps, except that NBI0.8.3 crashed if run from my dell. i had to install the general extensions right from my MBP!

my hackintosh behaves fairly well (including suspend/wake up), but I GET NO SOUND!!! i got some KP when overloading my machine (e.g. launching a time machine while photobooth'ing)

what should i do in order to get sound? i believe it should work, but...

many thanks to you all.

Thanks! I kept having kernal panics following the guide. Just implementing these steps and I now have a fully functional Mac netbook. Thanks all!

dear all. please excuse me for contributing so often

did someone out there encounter the same problems as mine (see my message #134 above)? i.e. did someone get crashes when running NBI(0.8.2/0.8.3RC3) on the DELL (which implied running NBI on a genuine mac).

and... can someone explain me why sound does not function, and how i could get sound at last on my hackintosh?

thank you.

Jacques...first thanks for doing all these tests and providing the best solution with 8.2 and 8.3

Guys,

Jacques is very clear in his instructions. You start with NBM and NBI 8.2

After you install the OS on the HD you run NBM 8.2 and shut your MAC down (do not restart). Then reinstall your HD back into the mini. Run NBI 8.2, reboot, then run NBI 8.3RC3.

At no time did Jacques tell you to use NBM 8.3RC3. At no time did he tell you to use either or NBI 8.2 or NBI 8.3RC3. He stated to use both. He has determined that the most stable way is to install both NBI 8.2 and NBI 8.3RC3. If you skipped over any of these steps...then that is your problem.

I can attest that this method is absolutely the most stable method, because I started out before 8.3 was released and used 8.2. When 8.3 came out, I used only NBI 8.3RC3 and ran it. This is essentially the same steps outlined above by Jacques. I have ZERO KP's or instability of any sort. Snow Leopard 10.6.1 runs like a dream and I use this mini more than I do my MBP.

the problem is i have installed with NBM 0.8.2 but when i install the HDD and get to NBI 0.8.2 it KP's at "Generating Extention Cashes" every time, i wish it was working as well as it did for you, but alas its not, so if there is possibly something im overlooking or anything that may help it would be greatly appreciated

Try re downloading it directly from the google code page and run it again:
