Default iOS 4 on OSX - 08-07-2010, 11:18 PM

Hey all,

Curious if anyone has any resources regarding the possibility of dual booting OSX and iOS 4 on a Dell Mini 10v. I seen discussions posted here that talk about mounting a touch screen in the 10v, but that the OSX software isnt very touch screen friendly. I figured since iOS was created for a touch screen, the option to switch between them would be a nice feature. I know that because the two are based on different chips there will be issues in put iOS on OSX, but I was curious what, if anything, was out there. Thanks!

Not quite what you are after but Start Developing iPad Apps - Apple Developer is out there.

Charley, I had thought about that, but I wasnt sure if the simulator would create an actual iOS environment. In other words, would I be able to download apps from the App Store and use in the simulator, or would I be limited to developing and using my own apps?

If you mean you want to use iOS as your main OS in a non-simulated environment it wont be happening anytime soon
iPhone = a4 and arm iirc
10v -- 32 bit x86 processor

I have the iOS simulator running on my 10v, it works nice, but using a resistive touch screen would put a damper on the experience of iOS imho

I have run several different versions of the simulator, quite successfully, on both the Mini 10v and Mini 9. I have not tried loading in apps or attempting to purchase from the app store from within the simulator. But you should be able to, since you can purchase apps with iTunes, sans an iOS device, and download them to be loaded onto your iPod, iPad, or iPhone by syncing with your computer. Since iTunes places them in an open location on your hard drive, you should be able to load them into the simulator the same way you would an app you built yourself.
