Default all Adobe CS3 apps crash with 10.6.3 upgrade. - 03-30-2010, 07:01 PM

all Adobe CS3 apps crash with 10.6.3 upgrade.

I even re-installed and still crashes.

This is a fully-legal, complete CS3 that I purchased from adobe.

Works in 10.6.3 on my real macbook, crashed on my Dell Mini 10v.

These same Adobe apps (photoshop, dreamweaver, bridge, illustrator) all worked on my Dell mini 10v with 10.6.2.

I might be rolling back to my clone of 10.6.2..........

anyone have some light they can shed on this issue?

ok, how about this...

can anyone successfully load and use—without crashing— their legal Adobe CS apps with 10.6.3 & .8.4 RC1 on a dell mini 10v?

Delete any Adobe/CS3 .plist files in your preferences folder and see if that gets you anywhere, if you haven't tried already.

I went a step further and completely reinstalled all my Adobe CS3 apps directly from the .dmg that I made long ago (and have used dozens of times) from my own factory Adobe CS3 DVD's.

No-go, photoshop, dreaweaver, illustrator all crash. The only Adobe CS3 app that does not crash is Adobe Acrobat pro 9, which is a separate DVD installer from the rest.

I am in the process of downgrading to 10.6.2, as I would rather have functional Adobe apps than the incremental 10.6.3 update.

10.6.2 amd .8.3 was solid for me on the dell mini 10v.

Whilst I've never used Adobe CS3 and I can't say for certain, I do know most uninstallers (at least the ones I've dealt with) don't remove preference files from your Library folder. So if there's a corrupt or problematic .plist file, uninstalling/reinstalling won't fix your problem. But again, I've never dealt with Adobe CS3, so I could be wrong.

I know this doesn't really help you, but your thread scared me and I tried my CS4 installs. They are not crashing.

I completely re-installed my dell mini 10v system back to 10.6.2 and .8.3

along the way, all adobe apps opened and worked in both 10.6.0 and 10.6.2, the same apps that would not load in 10.6.3

this is not an apps preferences problem.

also I have zero confirmation of ANYONE who has successfully run and used legal Adobe CS Apps with 10.6.3 and .8.4 rc1.

Edit: now the one guy just above me chimes in the same second I am posting!!

either way, for me 10.6.2 and .8.3 And Adobe CS3 work perfect, and crashes instantly with 10.6.3 and .8.4...and yes, I did all the basic (and then some) fixes, repair permissions, onyx....I'm not a n00b.

OK, I just found out this is a widespread bug that is Apple's fault.

Has nothing to do with .8.4 rc1......................

read here:

Apple - Support - Discussions - Installed 10.6.3 and now Photoshop CS3 ...

sounds like another Apple-Adobe "girl fight"

For the record my 10.6.3 instal on my mini 10v was great, except for the CS apps.................

now that really sucks. just tried my photoshop cs3 and it crashes as well damn you apple!

I'm just glad I don't use photoshop that often on my mini. I actually use lightroom quite often. and I'm glad it still works after the 10.6.3 update!

I am in software engineering for 20 years. Once Microsoft released Service Pack 6 for Windows NT (who remembers this system?) and it created problems with Winsock... Basically TCP/IP and internet problems... Companies installed it had big problems .. Th's why famous 6a came out.. and last...

At least we have internet...

So may point is - in software everything can happen... Be patient...
