Please refer to meklort's updated NBI especially for 10.6.4 (version 20100616212351) here: NetbookInstaller + 10.6.4 « Meklort's Blog
Perhaps you will find more answers... I am not entirely sure that 1012 is fully tested. But you can start by installing 10.6.0 (basic Snow) and then go to the updates one by one... Using the latest NBI, of course. Sorry I can't provide more help, I have a 1011 device.

Hi,

use only the .8.4.pre for 1012, R1 and the updated R1 for 10.6.4 breaks the 1012 install.

I'ts been quiet for 1012 with regards to it's fix new NBI

Default 10v and 1012 - 07-27-2010, 02:05 AM

After reading all the threads... for best functioning OSX netbook, we need to stick with 10v?

Anyone has got 1012 running with the HD screen (1388x768)? what about the external monitor output?

Has anyone successfully update a Mini9 from 10.6.3 (using NBI 0.8.4 RC1) to 10.6.4 using meklort's updated NBI 201006162123512? If so, please post the exact steps taken - I have tried to update to 10.6.4 and everytime I get a kernel panic. Also, which 10.6.4 update is better, only 10.6.4 or the 10.6.4 Combo? Thanks and any help is appreciated!

I used the 201006162123512 version of NBI and the regular 10.6.4 update. The process was to upgrade to the new version of NBI, reboot, and run the update. After the update my computer wouldn't sleep properly (I have a stock 8Gb SSD). I eventually traced that to a new version of the PATA kext/driver being installed under 10.6.4. Deleting the new kext/driver and updating my extensions caches got sleep working again.

If you are using the 0.8.4rc1 version of NBI the kernel panic is likely caused by having too many kexts in the /System/Library/Extensions folder. You can delete the extra video drivers for Intel 3100, ATI and NVidia cards to get under the size limitation and you should be in good shape again.

Question - has anyone installed the 10.6.4 incremental or combo update on a Mini 1012? If so, please let us know the steps. Thanks!

Thanks so much James for that link. The NBI_0.8.4RC1 resolved all (even for someone rather unskilled when it comes to computer inside knowledge), using mechdrews install method nr 2 (once the first installation was done, it was by far easier than in the descriptions, i think the new installer immediately installs a bootloader).

Ah, Mac OS X 10.6.3 on a Dell 1010 with 16 gig flashdisk

Thanks to you all!

Replying to myself:

I solved the problem using mechdrew's installing method no 2 (2 usb-drives) and following this thread:

NetbookInstaller .8.4RC1

and especially msg #100, which pointed to a discussion where there was indicated the downloadsite of the 0.8.4 version of the Netbookinstaller image
