Default BIOS Downgrade through Wine or Dosbox? - 12-02-2009, 09:23 PM

Hey, random question: the current directions for downgrading one's BIOS require Windows. Has anyone tried going through the guide using either Wine (or Crossover Mac) or Dosbox? I wouldn't want to screw with it myself--both of my 10v's are now on good BIOS versions, so potentially bricking them for the sake of curiosity would be stupid, but it's a thought, as it could possibly be allow people to downgrade without access to ANY form of Windows.

I used Windows XP inside a VirtualBox machine to create the USB key. Quite easy and worked well. Windows machines are ubiquitous so it's easy to find a system to work with. So while I haven't answered your question, creating it is easy and the actual flashing part is pretty simple.

I did the same thing (except with VMware). It was just a thought, because I KNOW I've seen people griping that they're 100% Mac users.

I doubt flashing in DOSBOX would work, and I'd be too scared to try under Wine. But hey, if somebody else wants to try...

I didn't so much mean flashing the BIOS but creating the boot medium: Downgrade your Mini 10v BIOS to A04 (Requires Windows)
