Dell 10v and OSX 10.6 observations - almost there - 09-14-2009, 10:14 AM
Hi. I know I'm new... and I promise Ive read many of the other relevant threads. But I just wanted to post a few observations for comment and tips that I feel I havent seen posted before.
I have a sept 2009 Dell mini 10v (australia) upgraded to 2 gig ram.
Rolled back to the A04 bios. Have used the most recent NetbookBootMaker 0.8.2.
I then used a standard Snow Leopard 10.6. I have not yet installed the 10.6.1 update.
I have then run the Netbookloader 0.8.2. Installing Chameleon 2 RC3, 10v extensions, old mirror friendly GMA kext, system specific dsdt.aml, disabled hibernation and removed sleep file, enabled quiet boot, and fixed bluetooth.
Ok so thats the setup.
1. sometimes I boot I get the apple logo, but I get no pinwheel, so I reboot and maybe on the third time it boots into OSx. Same anybody?
2. I really wanted to use the VGA out. First off when I plugged it into a projector I got a lovely stripey screen. I ran the NetbookInstaller again and installed the old mirroring GMA kext. This fixed the projector issue, displays perfectly on screen and projector. But any high res video now is extremely JUMPY. any tips? Love to get a pointer to what might be the issue. I saw a video of a guy running 4 videos at the same time smoothly... just not the same on mine. And when the dock is mosued over, if it overlaps the video it creates a black boxed area no transparent.
3. Ummm.. this is not consequential but I too have spasmodic issues with sound after sleep. Sometimes it works after, sometimes it doesn't. Just depends. but I'm going to hang out for a fix in the next NetbookInstaller.
4. this is really cool. If you havent heard this or tried it please do. I found if you put two fingers down on the trackpad for scrolling, but then lift one keeping the other down, so now just one finger for the initial two, and then drag.... you get a fairly normal 'two fingered scroll' maybe this is normal and I'm an idiot, but I was stoked to find it.
Would love to hear a solution to my jumpy video problem... this is the only think thats bothering me really... everything else I can live with.
My thanks goes out to the NetbookInstaller team. Thank you mechdrew and meklort. Great work. If you read all this... thanks.
