Tried NetBookInstaller 0.8.2 RC3 (alpha) wait - 08-21-2009, 02:59 AM
Just when I had finally gotten the update to 10.5.8 working with the modifications listed in the post Building 100% Vanilla on 10v (starting with fully working Audio) when I found NetBookInstaller 0.8.2 RC3 (alpha) and found many of the mods included. And, given that the upgrade to 10.5.8 made NetbookInstaller 0.8.0 and 0.8.1 non-functional, I decided to give the new alpha a run for its money. What I didn't know was it was going to give me a run for my money.
I should say, first of all, that my experiences with the mods in the aforementioned link worked for me in every way promised, except that I did not have the happy experience of getting the internal microphone to work like some of you lucky few. That was the dream experience that I was shooting for. But, my 10v did start operating at a consistent cool temperature and did start sleeping 100% of the time that it was supposed to be and did it when the display closed and recovered from sleep when the lid opened again. Sound worked as expected, all of the time. No longer did I have to dump the drivers and reinstall them over and over and over again.
But, after using NetBookInstaller 0.8.2 RC3 (alpha) everything worked as promised, but I had no sound at all. No sound hardware was even recognized. And no method for forcing OS X to recognize that sound could bring it back. I finally had to reinstall OS X and roll it back to 10.5.7 then return to NetBookInstaller 0.8.1 to get back in business.
Now everything is working again, with the exception of two problems: I still don't have the internall microphone working and the F7 or mute key. Every time I press the F7 or mute key, I lose the sound until I reboot.

Spoke too soon! RC4 is out and the audio bug is fixed! NetbookBootMaker still needs to be updated though.
