Default easier way? - 08-01-2009, 08:14 AM

In my fiddling with all these with my lack of technical expertise, I seemed to have stumbled upon something that worked out and was pretty easy:

I simply dragged and dropped the 4 ktext extentions attached to the original post into the package content of "netbookinstaller" in my applications folder.

Once the package is opened, I placed the 4 .ktext files in the folder contents/resources/supportfiles/extensions/mini10v extensions. Then I just run the netbookinstaller and make sure the "install 10v extensions" is clicked, and also "generate system specific dsdt.aml file".

Works out perfectly: mute works, auto switching, internal and external mic and headset/speaker. I'm so loving it!

Thank you guys. Your fantastic work truly made my day!

meklort, thanks a lot for your suggestion. Since I use my own way to install, I didn't realize IOAudioFamily had been patched. You solved the last puzzle of the audio problem Thanks!

Once done with the edits save it. You'll probably get a permissions error, so Save As to a different file, e.g. dsdt10v.dsl. In the terminal just type, in my case, "sudo mv dsdt10v.dsl dsdt.dsl" and it will replace the old file.…
This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but it may be that textedit is causing a problem (changing line breaks or some other invisible change to the content). Maybe editing with one of the terminal based editors or textwrangler will make a difference.

Well, the error I got was that I inserting text as opposed to replacing a block of text. The edited dsdt works fine now.

No problem.
If it's alright with you, the next version of the installer (NetbookInstaller 0.8.2) will be including your dsdt patch, the legacy kext and your verb helper kext.
This isn't necessary, but, would you be willing to release the source of verb helper (and I can give you write access to svn if you want it).

Also, could someone post a copy of their dsdt file?

+1 for this fix!

Installed the original IOAudioFamily.kext and it works like a charm.

Thanks for all the hard work guys!

Hey guys,

I was chatting with Nick and I had the voodoo installed. I sent that to the trash bin and used kext helper to install all 5 kexts in the first post. After reboot, I have no sound icon and show no devices in the system preferences. Please help!

Thanks!

I notice now when returning from sleep only the headphones work, not the internal speakers. The volume control is there but no sound is heard.

I am using the HDAenabler install.

Is VerbHelper installed? VerbHelper is for fixing internal speaker after wakeup.
