Default Backtrack 3 Wireless - 11-14-2008, 08:37 PM

Hi there...

Has any one had any luck getting the wireless on the Mini9 to work with Backtrack or even Slax. Idealy connecting to a WPA2 AP useing the wireless assistant in Backtrack?

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Backtrack 3 was released before Broadcom released the drivers for the wireless card in the Dell Mini 9.

I am running BT3 and was having some problems with the bluetooth card not being seen. I have been looking for the drivers and was hoping someone may know.

Thanks for your time.

what does "hcitool dev" show up? Some kde-distros have broken bluetooth-gui-tools, showing there is no device

Backtrack is not compatible with the Wireless card included from fabric on the Mini 9.

That is exactly why I swapped my Mini 9's stock WAN card with the one I have because it also supports packet injection. You might want to consider that option and you will save a lot of time.

I am ravenously interested to know where I can get one. :twisted:

Netbooks -> Mini 9 - 2gb Gskill low latency - Ubuntu 8.04
Asus Eee 701 4g - 1gb - Ubuntu 8.04.1
Desktops -> Phenom Quad @ 2.8 - 16gb - 4x Raptor X in RAID 0 - 2x 4870X2
Brisbane 1.9 @ 2.7 - 4gb - 80gb
Many others, all Linux.

Can you please post a link to the card you have? unless the card in your sig is the one "Wireless 3945abg WiFi Card" Is this it? http://www.provantage.com/intel-wm39...b~7ITEN099.htm

the alfa 500 mw with rtl8187 chipset is ideal for use with BT. it will occupy 2 of your 3 usb ports though.
any of the ubiquity comparable interfaces are much more costly, and the alfa is good performing card which supports packet injection. the stock antenna is +2 dB.

sorry if this is a "too late" reply, just getting into the mini

I too would love to find out if the above link is the RIGHT card for backtrack.

Thanks

Also is it better to install BT3 or BT4 on the mini?
