Using the opensolaris tools I mentioned, you just download the iso, run it through usbgen, run the output file of that through usbcopy, and tell it what flash drive to copy to. Not hard at all, nope.

The only issue is that you need a Solaris machine

I need to check if the script is adaptable, I'll do it while waiting for your PM.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I managed to create the USB stick using the .usb live images of OpenSolaris and an emulated Windows XP machine under Mac OS X on my girlfriend Macbook!!!
Also, the .usb was stored on the Dell Mini 9 sharing a Windows 7 RC1 folder!

Wow
Only Linux was missing in the picture

Now it's running from the USB and I must say I am very tempted to install it permanently.

But.. I must admin I was liking Windows 7 (amazing, I've been a unix user since 1991).
But well, developing on Windows 7 is not really nice (I am a Maemo developer in the spare time).
I also would like to develop an iPhone app.. uhm...

May be, may be.. I can run OpenSolaris along with Mac OS X and check if I can develop Maemo on one of them...

Must think about it...

Btw, runs very nice from the USB live stick!

Yeah, I'm surprised how well it runs on such a small system.

By the way, I recently installed an Intel Wifilink 5300 in my system and it makes Solaris dump core and print a stack trace to the console, would you happen to have one of those to try out and see if it's just my system or just that card, or if this is a bug? A 5100 may do the same thing also.

I am sorry, but I do not have such hardware available...

Why are you testing it ?

I'd like a better wireless card, and this would be a significant step up from the Broadcom one that the system shipped with.

Okay, I made up my mind and decided. I will run OpenSolaris standard distributions along side with Mac OS X on my mini.
I'll do the install this week end...

Yeah, I know you wouldn't care less
