Default choppy video running ubunto 8.04 - 05-17-2009, 06:37 PM

Newb with a Mini 9 having trouble watching youtube or most video for that matter, either freezes or choppy, i have a fast connecton running 2gb ram 8 gb hd with 3.5gb free. Any reason for this? Thanks in advance for any help.

The reason is that Adobe's Flash Player is garbage, especially on Linux.

To watch YouTube videos, I use a Firefox addon to download them as mp4 files, and then I play them in a real video player. Then they playback perfectly ... well ... as perfectly as YouTube gets.

you could try giving flash more cache, or try the open source version called gnash.

imo flash is equally bad on all platforms; it has turned into what java was in the 90s, lots of memory used and poor performance. whether this is adobe's fault or the individual programmers fault i don't know.
