Default Gentoo WiFi Help - 11-19-2008, 07:50 PM

I managed to get Gentoo running on my Mini 9 today after numerous failed attempts, I compiled the kernel with the IEEE802.11 Crypt TKIP module, and I've compiled the Broadcom module for the card. Modprobe'ing the crypt module works fine, and insmod'ing the module for the Broadcom card works fine. With wireless-tools, I can use 'iwlist scan eth1' to get the list of networks I can connect to, doing 'iwconfig eth1 essid blahblahblah' seems to work fine, but whenever I do 'dhcpcd eth1', I get an error saying that it timed out.

Is anyone else using wireless-tools and dhcpcd under Gentoo for their wireless? If not, is there an easier method that I could use?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out! - Graphic Design and Photography

Try using wpa_supplicant with -Dwext -ieth1 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.cfg, that's what's working for me under Gentoo.
