Default External LCD Monitor - 06-25-2009, 12:45 PM

I have looked in other threads and never have seen this problem. I have a Soyo LCD monitor I want to use with my Mini 9. When I plug in the monitor, nothing happens. The monitor acts like it got a signal of some sort (it wakes up), but nothing is displayed. I go to the Displays pref pane and do not see the arrangements tabs in there or any indicator that it sees an external monitor. Any suggestions to get it to see that LCD?

Obvious question first (sorry) but have you tried clicking on "detect displays"? That's helped me in the past (although I've not needed to do it on my Mini 9).

Yes. It doesn't do anything. I'm stumped.

Do I need to do VGA out -> DVI in because right now I'm using VGA out -> VGA in on my monitor. Just wondering...

for new problems you should post osx, bios, dellefi versions.

Did it work with the stock install?

If you still have the stock OS install on the original SSD, maybe pop it in and see if it is indeed an OS X issue, or a hardware issue with your particular mini.

When I originally plugged my A90 into my 24" external screen it didn't show a picture, but that was because it was trying a resolution that it didn't support for some reason.

Once I set it so there was an icon at the top of the screen to control resolutions I was able to fix it, but it took some doing and I don't recall the exact steps off the top of my head.

When I'm back home and can boot up the A90 I'll take a look though.

Update:

I have gotten my Mini 9 to output to my Sony 40 inch LCD TV. However, my Soyo 24 inch simply goes into sleep mode when I attach my Mini 9 to it. Its odd since this LCD is working fine when attached to my Lenovo StinkPad. I cannot figure out why the 24 inch LCD refuses to display. Maybe I'll hook up a Mac Mini and see what happens....
