1. Download and install the VoodooHDA kext from detailed in this post:

2. Follow the steps in post 2 or post 5 of this thread.

3. Delete the file 'AppleHDA.kext' from the /System/Library/Extensions folder.

mine was working until i installed 10.5.7...then the static came...i'm guessing it reinstalled the applehd file with the update, as i found it again in the extensions folder...once i deleted it the static stopped.

for some reason i can't find my "extensions" folder on my computer. i looked under library. what am i doing wrong?

bah, my static is back....installed divx and perian codec wonder if that killed something.
