Default Quicktime Upgrade Botched - 06-23-2009, 03:10 PM

OK, so Apple thinks I need to upgrade my Quicktime version to 7.6.2, which I did. When I rebooted, I only got to the white screen with the Apple logo and the spinner at the bottom.

How can I repair this issue, preferably with the updated Quicktime intact? Would the 10.5.7 update be the next best step, or am I relegated to a Time Machine restore here?

Thanks,
David

Default Safe Mode - 06-24-2009, 01:00 AM

I am able to boot into Safe Mode (EFI 1.1, -x switch), but not into the OS in regular mode. Is there a log of some sort that will tell me what was installed improperly?

Default More Info - 06-24-2009, 03:08 AM

Upon further analysis, I believe the actual problem might be with the Airport Update that came via Software Update. I rebooted using the -v switch and I am stuck on the following line of code:

vmnet: VNetUserIfFree: freeing userIf at 0x4c62400.

Is there a way to undo the Airport Update? In safe mode, I cannot mount packages, so I am unable to reinstall the DMG files.
