Default Help with upgrade to 10.5.7 - 06-23-2009, 10:19 AM

Hi guys,
I have a mini 9 with OSX on a plug in hard drive and it's just fantastic.
I recently upgraded to 10.5.7 and when I re-booted i kept getting a blank white screen!
In the end, I had to re-format and perform the whole process again!
I have read some details about re-installing dell efi but have not plucked up the courage to have another go since.
I now want to use bluetooth tethering on my iphone and wonder if that update would cure it?
Also cant run safari 4 without it.

Any tips on installing the update without killing everything.

Here is the info you need to fix the screen issue in 10.5.7.

I don't know this was never stickied, lots of new members have this issue.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't go with Safari 4 if I was to do it over again. It is slow and locks up if you navigate to a page with a lot of images or flash. Also, it is pretty much impossible to remove it once installed. You have to back up your applications and reinstall the os to get rid of it.

underwhelmed, are you talking about the release version of Safari 4? The beta had all of the problems you mentioned but I've found that the official update is working perfectly.

Default 10.5.7 to cure bluetooth tethering???? - 06-23-2009, 02:43 PM

Q. Does 10.5.7 cure the problems in getting an iphone 3.0 to tether via bluetooth?

I can use it with a USB cable and on Windows 7 (on the same Dell Mini) I'm able to use both USB and bluetooth however when I boot up as a Hackintosh it never quite manages to complete the wizard when adding the phone as a device.

If 10.5.7 doesn't fix this, then I'll just stay with 10.5.6 as "if it aint broke don't fix it" would apply!

Thanks for you help and advice so far

Regards

Release version, beta and new update to 4.01 released last week. All of them give me trouble and eventually have to be shut down by force quit as they become unresponsive.

I will be reinstalling from OS X Leopard disk back to 10.5.6 and Safari 3, as I have found many with this issue on all Mac Forums, not just Hackintosh systems. No one has been able to remove Safari 4 and run an older version, it won't let you install Safari 3, says a newer version is installed. I have scrubbed the receipts folder, the plist, just about everywhere you can to remove it, but it persists. I am using a copy of the Beta new, but it gives me issues as well.

I can use Firefox, but really, I would rather fire up my XP desktop if Firefox is my only option for a browser on the Mini 9.
