Default I need some clarification with DellEFI please - 06-20-2009, 09:51 PM

Hi all
I am currently running 1.1 and my problems with plugging in an LCD projector have now been resolved. However, my even older problem with artifacts have resurfaced. Being able to plug in an LCD projector is more important than getting rid of artifacts but I was wondering if there was a solution to having both resolved. I did a quick search and it seems like I can use the terminal to turn mirroring off or something which will help in this matter but it doesn't sound like a permanent solution. A little help please. Thanks.

DellEFI has two different video drivers included in it. The default driver eliminates 99% of the artifacts (I occasionally get an artifact in System Preferences, but not too often) but does not allow for video mirroring, hence the Terminal "mirroring off" command. The second driver is enabled by selecting the "Install old mirror friendly GMA kext" option in DellEFI, which is a driver that is compatible with mirroring but has a lot of artifacts. I'm guessing you are using the latter, since you are using mirroring, but so far no one has a working "best of both worlds" driver.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll just keep the mirroring and deal with the artifacts for now. Thanks again!

Hi
If I wanted to go back to the driver that didn't support mirroring but got rid of the artifacts, how would I do that? Thanks.
