OS X 10.5.7 + Windows Mobile phone + Tethering (internet) - 06-19-2009, 07:43 AM
This should work for any network and for any phone that is running windows mobile with Dell mini 9 with bluetooth properly set up.
I have Verizon and Omnia, and have used it as tether for my dell mini 9 without paying them extra for tethering fee. I do have unlimited internet access plan.
I do it through a program called ICS (internet connection sharing).
Install the ICS (IntShrUI)program on pocket pc.
First I paired Omnia to my dell using bluetooth and included install for the phone to be used for bluetooth PAN.
When you start the IntShrUI program (on pocket pc), it will give you choice to connect between usb or bluetooth. Select bluetooth and tap on connect. (on windows, you can do usb and connect your phone to computer via usb to be used as internet modem but does not work on Mac OS X)
Once phone is connected to 3g network, click on bluetooth icon on mac os x and look for your phone device name. When you mouse goes over phone device name, it should pan out to include connect to network. Click on the connect to network
Viola, 3g network no matter where you go
One note - After sleep or disconnect from PAN network, connect to network under device name is no longer clickable. I have not found a work around to this other than restarting the computer. It's a minor issue, compare to luxury of having always available internet.
I also use WMWIFIRouter program to set up my omnia as wireless router. This allows me to set up network for use in multiple computers with WEP security. It's bit more complicated and not as stable and bluetooth. But if anyone is interested, I will post information regarding it.
Here is site for those who can't wait (http://grownupgeek.com/how-tether-mobile-phone-laptop) program is on the link i provided for ics program
P.S. for those who are worried about getting "Caught." Well verizon must know by now that I use the internet excessively. But they have ignored it so far. I've heard from online forum that they have magic *4GB/month* radar, that you should stay under to keep from getting "caught" but I don't think that's true either. All in All, using this should be at your own discretion.

I use my iPhone to tether my mini 9. Jailbroken or not you can visit help.BenM.at – Mobileconfigs für dein iPhone | BenM.at and choose the link for tethering. Then choose your provider (incl. AT&T) and install the pref. Then under settings>general>network>tethering you'll find the on/off toggle for tethering. I use USB only since I have no BT and it keeps my iPhone from draining.
If yours is jailbroken, you can get the rock app from cydia and then get MyWi app for 9.99 and turn your iPhone into a wireless hub.
Both these methods worked on my 3gs (3.0.1) and the pref install worked on 3.0+ on a 3G as well.
