You've come to the right place. Here is a link to the best ways to install OS X on your mini, btw that Gizmodo article is old and the methods outlined here are much better.

I would recommend upgrading your ram to a 2 gig stick before doing the OS X install, make sure you have a DVD drive OS X can support (if you aren't doing to install with usb thumb drives that is).
If you do use a DVD drive, it is best to plug into the USB slot closest to the Mini 9 power plug.
Any other questions or help, this is a great forum with many active members who have done this and solved numerous strange problems that have poped up, so don't be afraid to ask.

i totally agree w/everything that underwhelmed said. i am also a dummy when it comes to a lot of these hackintoshing matters, but after i found the DellEFI method & used it (following instructions to the letter, i might add), i was truly amazed when i got my Mini 9 Hackintosh working on the 1st try!
This forum is fantastic & there is a huge wealth of knowledge here. It's a Dell Hackintosh Gold Mine as far as i'm concerned, w/all these super smart & helpful people posting here!
Hope you are able to get your 10.5.7 Mini 9 working now.
