| Senior Member Posts: 354 Join Date: Mar 2009 | i see the audio noise sticky is gone. what you have is well known - a very few mini's have this problem, like mine ![]() put it in suspend and it will go away until you reboot. i only reboot occasionally. when i do i immediately put it in and out of suspend. problem solved. | Senior Member Posts: 354 Join Date: Mar 2009 | sorry i should have said 'sleep'. there are three simple ways: 1) apple menu -> sleep 2) power button -> sleep 3) close lid for all of these methods wait until the power LED starts to blink slowly (you are then in sleep mode). then push the power button once to return to normal. the static sound should be gone until you reboot. | Senior Member Posts: 354 Join Date: Mar 2009 | the 'solution' is to get one of these 'broken' mini's into the hands of someone that can 'fix' it. clearly some bit of audio hardware programming software runs as part of the suspend process that doesn't run as part of a boot. and furthermore undoes the proper initialization when restart runs. it's only a matter trial and error - IF you have a mini that does it. however as stated in the latter days of mini development it's so infrequent that the developers can't get it to happen it was deemed no important to fix. especially since just doing a suspend after restart/boot was a simple work around. if this doesn't work for you, perhaps you really have broken hardware. i still run DellEFI if that's any help. need any more research? read every post on the problem like i have. i would prefer external monitor/projectors were as easily addressed.
