Sounds like this thread isn't being too heavily watched, but I was wondering if you could add a specific 10v setting in the BootMaker app (or whatever it's called now) that could apply an AppleDisplayScaleFactor setting to the installer so that 10v users could actually see the Next button?

I am watching too. I am not quite understanding it all, but I am getting excited enough that I think I am going to buy a 8gb USB thumb drive for dedicated reinstallation.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to use the scale factor, but I'll see if I can figure out how to do it.

For those interested, our current status is that the boot maker can now patch any dvd that we have tried (10.5.0 and 10.5.6) and will boot up fine without a kernel panic.
The installation works perfectly, generating a fully bootable system without any user intervention.

We also now have the audio driver (AppleHDA) loaded from /Extra, so the /S/L/E directory will now only have the ClamshellDisplay kext copied over.

Because of the graphics issue with updating to 10.5.7, we are going to include the NetbookInstaller app on the patched dvd (in the utilities menu) so that you can boot to it, run it and have a fully working system in case of problems cause by an update.

Our next step is to work on the NetbookInstaller gui and once that is done, we should be pretty close to an alpha.

Meklort and I are not posting some news about our progress on a new site callet netputing.com.

Here is the 1st post that sum up this thread:

Netputing » New Netbook OSX Installation Method on it’s Way

The site is in it's infancy but we will work on that too.

We are still looking for a logo and a nice banner picture. If you have suggestions please contribute ;-)

Default logo suggestions - 06-26-2009, 11:55 PM

hey guys,

thanks for your efforts to make for an easier and no-hassle installation!

anyways,

i thought i'd try a simple design of a logo and banner for your netputing.com site.

now it's just a concept, cause i know you probably wouldn't be able to use the copyrighted logos, but it may be used as a base for a final design. It's basically supposed to be the bottom section of a keyboard with the space bar, etc.

let me know what you think or if you have other suggestions and i can implement them.

keep up the great work guys!

Awhile back I mentioned changing the language strings of the installer so that new people might understand the 'failed' better. I'm pretty sure I found the strings on the install disk: "/System/Installation/CDIS/Mac OS X Installer.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/XIApplication.strings". Haven't tested but I assume modifying these would work.

Good finding. I will try modifying the file to see if we could get it to display that we want.

This is not where the text actually is... but close. I found it in a NIC file. I have text edited it and I am currently trying to re-install. I should know in 30 minutes if it worked.

UPDATE:

I wrote a fake bless application and after replacing bless with the fake one (that simply print out "OSX on Netbook is great!" and return 0) the installation complete with success! Problem solved!
