I'm still running the beta Safari 4 because of the screen real estate I save with the tabs being on top in the title bar. The production released version puts the tabs back below the URL bar, which is not as good for the limited netbook screen size.
Googling around, I found a possible fix that might work. Supposedly this worked in the beta to set the tabs to the bottom, which I assume might work the other way around. Anyone want to give it a try?
Open terminal and run:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4TabBarIsOnTop -bool TRUE
Restart Safari 4
(I would try it myself, but I dont want to upgrade if this doesnt work since I dont have the files to revert back.)
By the way, Safari 4 is much faster than Firefox on netbooks. It does Hulu and streaming flash smoothly as well. I've been on firefox forever but this made me make the switch. It's just as snappy as running Firefox on a much faster machine.
