Default Mini won't boot up!! Stays on Apple Logo rotating! FML - 06-13-2009, 09:53 PM

Ok. Today I was BT tethering a blackberry 8700 because I previously deleted the connection. I set it up again and restarted the mini. Upon restart the BT was off. I turned the mini off went into BIOS and disabled BT, booted up, turned mini off, enabled BT on again in BIOS and BT was still off.

I ran DellEfiA05 or something like that and removed the dsdt file, fix bt, dell mini 9 extensions and ran it. It told me to restart and that's when my problems begin. I tried booting in -x , -f, -s, etc. It just keeps rotating at the apple logo and won't turn on. I removed my SD card and tried booting up without it and same issue. I pulled the battery and put it back on same issue.

I could care less about starting over again but I have pictures and very exclusive videos that I must keep and can't afford to lose. is there a way I can boot back in. I don't have a USB thumb set with syslinux as I'm not home yet. Any ideas?

Ok. I'm going to attempt to put syslinux on a thumbdrive and see if I can boot up. I'm lost and it seems like no one here has a clue what's going on. I don't want to re-install osx and need to get in the mini because I have stuff saved that I need. Any ideas.

$20 to whoever can get me up and running. All I get is the apple screen and the rotating circle.

ok, how long have you waited before you gave up and turned off the laptop. Sometimes, especially after installing or updating apple os x, it takes a very long time (10-30 mins or longer) for it to boot up. I get the same thing, rotating color wheel. Just leave it on and forget about it, you may be surprised to see it work by end of the day. If anything boot up Ubuntu through live cd on thumb drive using UNetbootin. It's easy.

well, first rescue your data. any old linux (cd, thumb drive) and a thumb drive for the data should do.

in the same situation i tried booting from a leopard thumb drive and repair the ssd: disk util couldn't even unmount it. I thought, well, thats serious, and restored from a recent Retrospect backup. Now I get a kernel panic early at boot, saying "can't find driver 'ACPI'". May have to repartition and reinstall and restore...

So my advice: data rescue before trying anything else!!!!!

Your sig says 32 gig SSD, so maybe there is enough space for an 'archive and install' that would save your data.
