Default Need "N" wireless card for 9 running OS X - 06-12-2009, 02:03 AM

What is the best wireless "N" card that has support for OS X? I have hard that none of the Intel cards work and the Apple wireless card is too hot to handle. So what about the Dell 1505? what is the difference between that and all the others? I need help with what card to buy.

Thanks

802.11n upgrade heat issue

Some AirPort Extreme WLAN on Ebay have been reported to be fakes and may run hotter then the Dell Wireless 1505 which is fully OSX compatible...

I'm debating what to do about that as well... it's part of the risk with buying things over eBay that are "parts", whether it's the Apple card or the Dell card, you just don't know if it's real or not. And of course the seller will say if it works then you got what you ordered.

Dell : Dell 2.4/5 GHz Wireless 1505 PCI Express WLAN Mini-Card for Select Dell Systems : Wireless/WiFi : Home & Home Office

FWIW: The Dell Wireless 1505 is expensive via Dell but wouldn't risk being a 'fake' either...

Thanks for the link. Do you know whether a real (I imagine you can get them from an Apple authorized reseller) Airport Extreme card will still run hot, or whether it's solely a result of substandard illegal manufacture?

Hi Folks

Apologies for hi-jacking another thread however just to clarify, will the below link (from Dell UK site) work on my UK DM9? It has OS X 10.5.6 on it

DELL Dell - 1505 - Wireless Card - 802.11a/g/n - Mini card - European - Kit : Networking | Dell United Kingdom

Should be OK despite not listing the Inspiron 910 on the Compatibility chart
