Question Hackintoshing My DELL Mini9 or Mini10v - 06-06-2009, 11:49 PM

For me, buying a Dell Mini 9 was a decision mainly based on the ability to HackinTosh it. So, take the poll ... was being able to add OSX onto the Dell, a selling point for you? Was it the main reason you bought the Dell? One of many reasons? Or did you Mac it later?

In the case of the 10v, yes. In the case of my 9, no, because I didn't know I could hackintosh it (and do so easily) until after I had purchased it from the Dell Outlet and starting hanging out here.

OSX was the only selling point for me, the deal breaker really. Yes, I like the compact size and the price, but I wouldn't have considered it without the great work by people on this forum, I'd have just got a Macbook.

OS X was definitely the thing that pushed me into finally asking for the Mini 9 (it was a Christmas gift). I was leaning toward it because of its size and what not, but knowing that OS X ran so well on it certainly made the decision easier.

I just bought a second hand Mini 9 to be certain it all works for OSX. I had a retail pack 5 license anyway of which 3 leopard licences were used...Now 4 :-) with thanks to the excellent work on the runcore and retail installation...If I couldn't use OSX on it I wouldn't have been interested...

It was either a refurb Macbook Air, or my fully loaded Mini 9 + refurb 32GB iPod Touch and a spare $900 (graduation present), so it was obvious what I chose

I only bought the Dell Mini 9 because I could install Mac OS X. I have barely ever used Terminal (other than when being told EXACTLY what to type), so fiddling with computers is not for me. Seeing that the installation was so simple (well, with EFI 1.2 anyway) I took the plunge even though a few months ago I had said I would never buy a PC again - now add the caveat "that won't run OS X".

I bought it strictly to hackintosh it. Specifically I wanted a small wireless video/media machine such that I could run VLC and the OS X version of the MythTV frontend on it. It works very well indeed for that purpose. Perfect form factor and price.

same. my buddy had one of these and it looked so cool and light! After seeing what I could do w/ one via this site in December 2008, it was an easy decision as I've become used to OSX by that point.

hackint0shability was the only reason for getting this and not a MB or MBP.
