Default bootable cd help - 06-06-2009, 02:01 AM

I tried burning the exploded dellminboot123 iso with nero on a pc as data and the the ext dvd flickers and continues on to ubuntu. (many times) Is there something I have to do to make the CD bootable? I know the ext DVD will boot to other disks that are DOS bootable.

When you say, "burned it to the CD as data" do you mean that you literally burned the ISO file onto the CD? If so, then thats the problem...you need to select "burn image to disc" in nero.

I used isobuster to extract the iso directories and files to a dir on my pc then burned them to a cd; dellmin9utils, syslinux, rrmoved directories and 8 files, the syslinux, boot etc. Could this just be a bad version and if so can someone give me a link to a good one.

No, that is a good version, your process is making it harder than it needs to be. Just use a standard dvd burning utility and burn the iso image. Don't open the package and muck about in it, it works flawlessly as is.

Extracting the files before burning them to the disc messes up its ability to boot properly. Just burn the ISO as is to the disc and you should be fine.
