depending on the videos you are playing that could be normal. when i watch netflix or something that totally maxes out the CPU, the battery definitely lasts less than 2 hours. But if I am doing normal web browsing and chatting or word processing I get nearly 4 hours.

just replied to another thread, but ya I have this issue too showing 1:58.

But mine actually ran for more than 2:30 as of right now...I want to see how long it.
As of right now it has run for 2:30 and says it has 13% battery left.

This is with No BT and No Wifi btw. Just a Movie playing off an SD card at 80% volume with screen at lowest setting.

I think it is just reporting it wrongly. Mine says that as well, but in real world time it lasts much longer...

Default Same problem - 07-09-2009, 01:36 AM

I just got my Dell Mini 10v yesterday. Used Mechdrew's guide and got 10.5.7 up and running without too many issues. Using version 1.2a5 of DELLEFI. Bluetooth off, USB legacy on. I only get a bit over 2 hours battery life.

I tried deleting and creating a new dsdt.aml file, but that didn't work. Tried voodoopower and didn't see much of a difference there either. The only add-ons I have besides DELLEFI are the voodoo hda sound kext and the touchpad V18 kext.

I guess I never had a machine that could push 3 hours to begin with, but I was kind of hoping to have one by updating right away to 10.5.7. I'm a little scared about downgrading to EFI 1.1, but the people who seemed to get a big jump from upgrading to 10.5.7 seem to be the people in that boat.

Anyone have 1.1 and see a decrease in power or anyone with a 10v running 10.5.7 with 1.2a5 have the proper battery life?

This is what we get for unsupported h/w + s/w combos. While I have enjoyed this project, I'm not sure I will be keeping this setup long term. Not that the battery is the deal breaker, it is just one more in a line of concerns.

Not to be a smart aleck, but how many cells is your battery? I have a 4 cell and have thought about getting a dell branded one from ebay thats 8 or 9 cells since my battery gives me about 90 mins of video playback as it sits. Would rather have twice that if I could.

~2 hours here on the meter as well. Mini 9 Runcore 32GB, OS X 10.5.7 NetBootInstaller 0.8.1. OEM battery, whatever it is. In system profiler it say the battery condition is "fair" and has 38 cycles.

Could someone please send me an unpatched version of the mini 10's dsdt?
If you need instructions on how to get it, I can post those.

For the mini 9, if you are running a version of DellEFI before 1.0.7 and you haven't update to Bios A05, the battery information is no being read.

If you are on the 10v, I'll take a look at the dsdt and see if it's causing any problems (after someone sends me a copy).

Dell Mini 10v | Mac OS X 10.6.5 | 1 GB RAM | 160 GB HDD | BIOS A06
