Default Virtualization - 05-30-2009, 08:31 PM

Hi all. I think I will order a runcore 32 ssd to give me more room to run Sun's Virtual. I have 2-3 Win 2007 programs I need to use fairly regularly.

Has anyone had success with virtualization on the mini9 hackintosh?
TIA,

I ran VirtualBox with an XP guest without any issues, other than the fact that it was slow. Now, I was only using an app or two at a time, but it worked for what I needed it for. That was with a 32 GB SuperTalent.

There is a caveat though that it tries to use vt extensions, even though the Atom doesn't support it, and you can't disable it. You may have to do some minor hacking to disable it. I've seen tutorials here for how to do that.

Anguish, thanks. Might see how slow boot camp is. Or, I may just keep my Mini12 with Win7 on it for the occasions where I need a Win app. BTW, have you had success with your 10v install?

From what I've read, Boot Camp won't work. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Typing this in OS X on the Mini 10v. Works a treat. Audio was the only real issue, and that was resolved by borrowing from the NC10 community.

Boot camp is Apple's way of dual booting a Macintosh. Just use any of the dual booting guides here and you'll have the same as Boot Camp. Then install the Boot Camp control panel (which does work even if Boot Camp itself doesn't) in whatever version of Windows you install to take care of the time issue.
