The system needs to be rebooted for new LaunchDaemons to activate.

I always add my LaunchDaemons as system wide (i.e. in /Library/LaunchDaemons). So they are not per user.

I'd also leave out the redirects to /dev/null. That way any problems will be captured in the system log.

Check your system log to try to find out what is going wrong. It should point you towards any problems. One issue might be environmental variables, for example, which might not be defined the same way (if you are using any) when it is fired from launchd as when you run it from the command line.

Hi,

This is fantastic idea, as a web developer my laptop is really important to me.

Can I have your permission to repost this message around various forums I frequent?

Cheers,

Rebooted machine, still doesn't work.

Could someone maybe post a dump of a working .plist file? =)

You might want to check the Track down your stolen laptop – Prey and see if you can get involved into this open source theft recovery solution. Kudos on your solution as well mate!!!

any development work efforts for this lately? I was thinking this would be nice if a keylogger was implemented as well. Send text as to what they are typing

another quick thought would be to add twitter and/or facebook status updates with google maps to track. Maybe alert your friends as well to keep an eye out for your netbook/laptop/etc...

Default Awesome! - 01-24-2010, 03:18 AM

Thank you so much for such a cool script! I have just noticed the little green light go on my iSight camera on my MacBook Pro and looked to see the photo and updated text files. Truly awesome. such a great job.

Thanks again!

Hey, Reddit - my wife's Macbook got smash'n'grabbed out of her mom's car two hours ago. Had I installed this script in her Dropbox beforehand, I might well have a picture and IP history of the perpetrator. : gadgets This thread Refback 11-21-2009 05:57 AM
