Default Heat = major performance slowdown - 05-29-2009, 02:02 AM

I used to really like the no fan design of the mini, but I realize now that it has it's drawbacks. First off, having a fan, even a crappy one, really really does wonders for cooling.

I just ran a slew of benches when it was hot and when it was normal temp and the difference is as high as 60%. On the last set, geekbench came in at 650 when it was hot, then 920 once it cooled down!

That's huge! I really wanna open this thing up and put some artic silver and more heatsinks in there.

What's the verdict on the best cooling software. I know efi out of the box has it set to run at 800 or 1600, and that voodoo power will switch it through 8 steps, also coolbook is out there. Anyone have any experience with it? what is the best setup?

I stopped using voodoo after noticing a high pitched noise from the bottom of the mini.
