Playin games - 11-14-2008, 02:40 AM
What all has everyone tried for graphics intensive games in OS X? I've played Plasma Pong, it works ok-ish, once you turn all of the settings way down. And this evening, I installed Unreal Tournament 2004 (5.7gb once installed! Eeek!), it actually plays pretty well, it doesn't support widescreen, so I had to run it at 800x600, but with the graphics settings fairly low, it played just fine.
I suppose WoW and Eve would work just fine as well. I've never been into the idea of perpetual paying to play, so I don't play either of those.. But did enjoy the free trials of both on my main machine.. heh.. Anyone try any other OSX native games out?

Hit some roadblocks last night but everything should be good now. I haven't verfied anything yet. Instead of trying on the Mini I decided to dry run on my Macbook Pro. Before work I was able to do the install but I haven't copied over the files from the CD to make it work without the CD and see if it works period. As far as that goes I was just going to follow the Blizzard website :

Oh wow, those are really new instructions. I emailed Blizzard tech support about running without a CD when I got a PowerBook G3 about 1.5 years ago and they said there was no way to run it without the cd.
But on the other hand it did play just fine on that 500MHz G3 with its 8MB Rage card.
Should be easy peasy for the Dell to run it.
