Default Skype, iLife, iWork on Mini 9 Hackintosh? - 05-20-2009, 08:52 PM

I'm considering getting a Mini9 and converting it into a Hackintosh, but had a couple questions:

- Will Skype run ok (video and audio) on the completed Hackintosh (with 1.3 megapixel webcam)?

- In addition to Skype, will it run both iLife and iWork reasonably well? (I'll have a 32gb SSD drive and 2 megs RAM).

Thanks for your comments/input!

OS X on the Mini-9 is a real treat. Rock solid. However, I tried iWorks & iLife and the screen is just too small. There is an app Scale Resolution which helps, but even then, IMHO, it still isn't satisfactory. I kept Keynote, but uninstalled everything else.

I just installed iPhoto from iLife '09 on my 10.5.7 Mini 9 with 2GB RAM and it runs great. It can sync with my camera and do everything perfectly.

It's about 700MB though, which hurts on my 16GB SSD.

Skype and iWork are fine.

I don't find the screen too small to use iWork. However, I mostly use Pages. Numbers would be a bit cramped on such a small screen.

For iLife, I also only have iPhoto installed. It works without any problems.

Yeah, Numbers is a bit cramped. Pages and Keynote work well. Dunno about iLife since I don't use it. And it's amazing how well things look when you hook it up to an external monitor.

I tried iLife also and only ended up keeping iPhoto. iWeb had screens bigger then the lcd resolution so that was out. Garageband was also pretty crammed, didn't give actual editing a try. Figured iMovie and iDVD wern't going happen so didn't bother with the install.
