Thumbs up DellEFI Reciprocal Gratification - 05-16-2009, 11:17 PM

This is a just an "open thought" on a personal opinion wondering if it "sticks" on our Hackintosh Community. Given that credit should be provided to those brave souls who took the task of simplifying MacOSX boot-ability on netbooks, I would like reciprocate their diligence somehow since their innovation has save us time and money.

How can an "Amazon or Paypal" account be setup for individual contributions to bMaltais and or merklot as gratification of their solution. I for one would not mind contributing funds towards their wish list on Amazon or Paypal. if this is possible when and where could it happen?

I am a newbie on this community, and thus far I am grateful of what I've been provided and since I am not a programmer, I would like to reciprocate.

If I am offending anyone please accept my advance apologies. If I miss a key contributor to the DellEFI solution, please correct me and add the person to the main or key contributor list.

What do you all think? All opinions are appreciated and respected.

I'm in. One of them doesn't have a bluetooth module... for instance.

I know they do it for pleasure & all, but I like this idea !

Much as I appreciate the work bmaltais and merklot put into this effort, to compensate them for their efforts might place them and this initiative at some risk from Apple Legal. As long as no one is making a profit or has a profit motive, Apple pretty much leaves it alone. But if you get into the realm of money changing hands, even to just the two guys, then its a problem. Note also that their are probably some limits in the EFI licenses that might limit getting compensated for making it work somewhere

Is is still hard to get these? I bought mine originally off ebay, but I also bought a spare palmrest from a 3rd party resupplier that had one attached. They must be more common.

Interesting thought; I'm no attorney. Could I get a bluetooth module to someone via PM, or an e-mail, because I felt compelled to give back to humanity :-)

You can give them whatever you want, I'm sure they'd appreciate it. The only thing is that you should do it privately and there shouldn't be some sort of structure or contact lists on this forum set up to channel compensation to them. That would make it appear that they were doing this for profit. And that might get Apple Legal's attention. Of course, in the Big Pockets Theory, Apple goes after a big corporate entity mass marketing product (or Pirate Bay), not two guys in their home office doing this as a hobby.
