My Vostro A90 arrived yesterday. After upgrading the RAM to 2 GB, I installed OS X using a 10.5.0 retail DVD, with DellEFIBookMaker 0.3.2. The installation went perfectly--on reboot, the video played, the sound worked, the webcam worked, the WiFi worked, it boots just fine, etc. However, there are two problems I'm having. I suspect they may be related, but I'm not at all sure.
1. The machine doesn't recognize USB flash drives at all (not even the one I used to install OS X). Near as I can tell, nothing happens when I plug one in. The light on the drive (which usually lights up when it's plugged in) stays off, no icon on the desktop, nothing.
2. I can't mount .dmg files. When I try (by double-clicking on one), after a long way (>30 sec), a window pops up that says "device not configured". This happens for any .dmg I try--Mozilla, Thunderbird, the OS X 10.5.7 combo update, etc.
NOTE: The DellEFIBootMaker instructions specify to update to 10.5.6 before running DellEFI 1.1. Since I can't update to 10.5.6 (or .7) due to the .dmg problem, I haven't yet run DellEFI 1.1. I have no idea if this makes a difference.
Any ideas on where to start looking?
