Download the regular updater, not the combo updater. It saves a LOT of bandwidth.

Me too, updated to 10.5.7 by following conq's instructions.

Hard drive space used went up by 400MB.

Yes please....how do you delete the DSDT file?

I used Conq's method using the combo update and it worked like a champ. I had to reinstall the "aboutthismac.pkg" to get the processor type to read right in "About This Mac," but that's not a big deal at all.

Updated via Conq's method, less the second reboot in safemode, works like a charm, running 10.5.7 as we speak for those of you who have no boot delay you may want to rerun dellefi in custom and make sure "enable quiet boot" is NOT selected, that makes it much easier to enter -x for safe boot, otherwise you'll have to be jabbing the control key and hoping you hit it at the right time to get boot options. system seems to be running fine, will report any issues I encounter as time goes on. Thanks for finding the obvious solution Conq!

See the post on page 3. I copied conq's work below too. I did have an issue when I first tried the safe mode, it rebooted after about 5 minutes. Also, safe mode is very, very, very slow to boot, so be patient.

Hey guys been trying to log into the forum for the last few hours, the forum wouldn't send me my new password.

Here's what you need to do.
Download the installer, don't use Software Update. Install 10.5.7, in my case i downloaded the Combo.
Let it reboot.
At the boot screen use the -x to enter Safe Mode.
After in Safe Mode run DellEFI.
Reinstall the Mini 9 Extensions and remove custom dsdt.aml file.
Reboot.
At the boot screen use the -x to enter Safe Mode.
After in Safe Mode run DellEFI.
Install custom dsdt.aml file.
Reboot.

That worked for me, i'm on 10.5.7.

I am not sure if people realize this, but if you read my OP I have linked to the method to use to upgrade (Conq's)... and I wrote in LARGER FONT so people would notice...

Conq's post worked here too. As discussed, be patient with the boot into safe mode. The first time, it seems like you won't actually get in, as I suspect part of the update is finishing, and it automatically reboots. After that, follow the instructions, and you should have no issues. I'm typing this myself from 10.5.7 now.
