chameleon users (the new graphical boot sequence) will need to navigate to the boot options menu and select safe mode using cursor key etc. as you can't enter -x at a boot prompt from memory. |

Actually I just did it. You hit any key and type -x at the bottom. It will be in white so it's hard to see. I just wen through it and I am now on 10.5.7 and running. usna92 |

Hello all, I am glad to see that DellEFI 1.1+ will produce a successfull patch of 10.5.7 after it is installed. Too bad the upgrade is not smooth due to graphics issues. I have installed Win7 on my Mini so I can't quickly test the whole thing out as I will need to wipe out my Mini and install OSX again ;-) Yeah... I kind of like Win7 on the mini as it is fast and stable. I will see if I find the energy to test 10.5 7 this week. I have a lot of work to do at work these days and I have no play time ;-( 8GB SSD, 1GB RAM OS X 10.5.6 |

I did it via the software update with no success told me it wasn't able to finish downloading and to call Apple for help. ( So I did ) NOT! I did get a downloadable file and did installation. The promt told me it install successfully but after restarting the Mini booted the Apple Logo and then it kept going to a gray screen with lines running across the screen horizonally for several seconds and then when to an all blue screen, then back to gray with lines. I'd recommend waiting till some of the code guys can figure it out. |

Worked for me using Conq's method. On my first reboot into safe mode after the combo update, my mini hung, gave me a black screen, and then rebooted itself. I just retried booting into safe mode and it worked the second time. I used DellEFI 1.2a5. |

Anyone have a step by step for us novices. I received my mini yesterday, followed very clear and simple instructions to get OSX onto the mini, now this update hosed it, so in 24 hours I went from great system to the crapper. Seems like some video issue. This is my first experience with a mac. In reading this thread, it seems that installing or activating DellEFI is the solution, but I have no idea what that is, where to find it, or how to use it. Thanks for any assistance. |

I successfully updated to 10.5.7.. Used the delta update, booted with -x after the update, deleted DSDT, rebooted and -x'd again, dellefi install using the usual options (v1.1 as I can't stand 1.2) and it's all golden. |
