When the bootloader starts and it says "boot: " type " -x ". So it will look like " boot:-x "at the bootloader screen.

Btw in case anyone is wondering if we really have 10.5.7 installed, see attachement. Oh and my clock is always off, don't know why, it's right in bios. Go figure.

Garbled here.. What meklort was saying about reinstalling DellEFI before the update won't work. At least, it didn't for me. I couldn't seem to get into it to do anything.

I will try Conq's method next once my restore is done.

I couldn't get any applications to run after the update either, although it may be possible to have it opened before hand and then to just click the install button once the update finishes.
Anyways, we do have a working method, so it doesn't matter too much.

You shouldn't have to restore anything though, just use conq's method as is.

Time to check out for a while (hopefully)...

Could it be that Windows/BIOS set the time to local time zone, and Apple's OS X uses GMT and then convert it as needed to the local time? (I think I read that in a Hackintosh thread once....)

Please....for an osx newbie, how do you boot into safe mode? I read about the "-x" option, but where do I type this option? I don't see how during the boot process.

thanks

Yeah, but he posted that after I started my restore...and before I got on my laptop. Doh!

If you have no time out, you need to click on the control key when the machine boots up after the bios.
Then, at the prompt, you will see boot:
There, you type in: -x
It should boot and you just re-run DellEFI.

I just did it. Thanks to Conq and everyone else !!!

Has 10.5.7 disabled bluetooth for anyone else?, I was somewhat hoping it would fix it not remove it entirely.

Default installed! - 05-13-2009, 12:54 AM

I followed Conq's instructions and it worked perfectly.

If it helps, I too could not figure out where to type -x to boot into safe mode. I almost certainly didn't do it correctly but it worked.... What I did was type -x about 3 or 4 different times during the whole boot process! LOL but hey, it worked!

Thanks for the instructions. I've also upgraded Safari to the newest 4beta (there is a new one that you have to be running 10.5.7 to get) with no apparent issues encountered thus far.

Thanks again,
dsas
