Thanks, but i have had bluetooth disabled throughout my attempts. The only reference i could find in the forums to "ignore cache" i believe was referring to the -f flag which i have already tried to no avail. any other ideas?

Thanks so much, you guys saved me once again. I followed the following method posted above by jabbadabbadoo, having to reboot into safe mode 3-4 times (it didn't always go in) but now 10.5.7 is working fine after persistently running the 1.2a EFI over and over (3 times in all). Gotta luv it, big Dell mini 9 updated to the most recent OSx and all! LOL!!!

Just updated to 10.5.7 and it works! thanks to conq for the step-by-step guide.

I downloaded the combo update, the installation took around 12min. Then during reboot (actually during shutdown), it froze. After 5min, I forced it to power down (hold the power button for a few seconds). During the first startup it got stuck (grey screen with apple), but rebooted itself after 5min or so, and the 2nd time it managed to boot into safe mode (I pressed "Shift" both times). I ran DellEfi 1.2a5 with the following options only:
- Reinstall DM9 extensions
- Remove custom dsdt.aml file
- Disable hibernate
- Fix bluetooth
After the update with DellEfi, reboot again into safe mode. This time, run DellEfi (yes, again!) with the options
- Generate dsdt.dml
- Fix bluetooth (not sure this option is required for the 2nd time also).
Finally, reboot a 3rd / 4th time, without holding Shift to not get into Safe mode again -- and, [drums] -- we're in 10.5.7.

I restored a time machine backup of 10.5.7 on to a new 10v and it would not get passed the grey screen no matter what I did. I had successfully updated about 4 other minis to 10.5.7 using the startup in safe mode so I knew how to do it.

I did get it to finally take 10.5.7 by reloading 10.5.7 update via the linked download and then following the safe mode startup process. For some reason I had to reload 10.5.7 on a 10.5.7 system that had worked previously on another mini10v.

strange but if you cant get 10.5.7 to work reload 10.5.7 and make sure you dont use software update but download the linked 10.5.7 at the top of this thread.

5. It was all good after that..

You saved me a lot of time trying to go through several pages of this thread. I did exactly this and got the problem fixed. Thanks a lot to you and the previous contributors in this thread for saving my day.

its a while since i posted. i have upgraded to 10.5.7, and am enjoying the extra 1hr20mins battery life.

anybody else loose sound? i have and cannot get it back. its ages since i was fixing sound on this.

what method does dellefi use to patch sound? i know it has changed from kext i gave to type11.

How do you get to safe mode if you had autoload turned on??? I forgot to turn it off before running the 10.5.7 combo updater, so I never get a prompt where I can enter -x...

I'm searching the forums on this but so far no luck.
