thanks for the help dchao. really appreciate your replies. I will be reinstalling the DellEFI again via boot123 USB. Luckily i kept both my USBs without tampering with them since my first install of OSX.

I'm still waiting on my Vostro, but I already installed 10.5.6 direct to a 32GB RunCore direct from my Mac. Based on your post, I guess that I can just simply upgrade the RunCore from my Mac from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 without any additional steps? Thanks again to all who determined the 10.5.7 install procedure.

Well, I installed 10.5.7 on one of my Mini 9's and it is freezing. I get the gray screen with the Apple logo, then the spinning gear wheel. Gets to a blue screen then goes gray again with some broken bands of lines. If I hit "Fn + 8" the screen then goes to the startup Apple logo with a frozen gear wheel and freezes.

I rebooted and tapped the spacebar on "Press any key to enter startup options"
at the boot prompt I type "-v" (minus quotes of course) and then hit ENTER. This looks to be a diagnostic mode (never ran it 'till now) where a bunch of commands scroll by. Simmilar results as with first step but instead of a gray screen with broken up lines, I get a black background with the white text all garbled up. I then hit "Fn + 8" and the screen is cleared up.

Here are the last two lines at the bottom of my screen before the system freezes:

May 13:01:07:34 localhost /usr/sbin/ocspd[66]: starting
May 13:01:07:34 localhost mDNSResponder mDNSResponder-176.3 (Sep 30 2008 16:59:38)[34]: starting

This is where it all freezes. Hope someone can use this to diagnose! Oh well, it's time to reload unless there is a recovery mode where one can undo the previous update, ala Windows?

Installed the 10.5.7 update with "conq how-to".

Hi,
I have only a question. Should I also use the combo update if updating from a 10.5.6 installation? or in this case I can use a delta package? because I seem to remember that the combo should be used in this case. eg: 10.5.5 -> 10.5.6 -> 10.5.7

What if I want to do a fresh install? I have a retail family pack 10.5.0 Leopard DVD.

I saw someone here say you can skip out on the 10.5.6 combo update and just download the 10.5.7 combo update instead.

After the combo update installs and restarts itself a few times, which DellEFI tools do I use? 1.1 or 1.2a5?

Is all that I need to do on a fresh install the following:

1) Install 10.5.0
2) Upgrade to 10.5.7 with combo updater
3) Install DellEFI tools (1.1 or 1.2a5)
4) About this Mac.pkg

And that's it?

I had 10.5.6 and DellEFI 1.1 Final

Here is what I did (kudos to Conq):
1) Downloaded the 10.5.7 (Delta-)Update via Software Update's option: Download only
2) Installed the 10.5.7 Update
3) Upon reboot, I did the Safe-Mode (Option -x) the Apple comes up with the circling thingy and afer couple of seconds the system will reboot automatically
4) Again I chose the Safe-Mode / OS X starts up just fine (but slow)
5) Manually deleted the dsdt.aml file from the root of tht file system
6) Opend DellEFI 1.1 and did a Custom Install (checked "Reinstall Dell Mini 9 Etensions", "Generate a system specific dsdt.aml file" and "Fix Bluetooth")

After reboot, everything seems to work just fine.

Read the instructions carefully, it's "-x" and NOT "-v"

-x = safemode

Hi everyone,
thanks for the good work.

I installed the 10.5.7 Combo and it endet up with the graphics bug.
So, I would like to fix it trough conqs method.

Unfortunately I am using 1.2a5 with the chameleon boot loader in "Silent Mode", so I have no chance to boot up in Safe Mode.
Is there any hint or tip how to do this? Maybe by pressing a key before the bootloader trys to load the OS?
