From my post on the same topic:
Kept on digging and I cracked it! It turns out it can be a couple of things:
-Vista can make the broadcast info go nuts if it is the master browser. See this blog
http://robmulally.blogspot.com/2009/03/ ... -mate.html
-As per usual windows file sharing fun, workgroup communication can very easily kill itself whenever it feels like it.
So with this info I turned off my Vista machine, booted my G4, and then booted my Mini. The Mini was able to see the G4's share points. Booted the PC, but the Mini could NOT see any of the vista share points. On the Mini I went into the WINS settings and changed the workgroup to something different than the Vista machine and BINGO!
Gotta love Microsoft.

Did try that but didn't work for me . I was working on osx 10.5.4 before dellefi installation . I have entered some hard dns
lines in the router and now i can get to the machine if i type smb://machinename.workgroup but have to do this every time after restart . i belive could have something to do with my router so i will try a different network tomorrow .
Thanks for your fast response .
any other ideas would be fantastic .
