Default Can Disk Utility partition even when there's stuff on it? - 05-08-2009, 01:49 AM

Hi there

I want to partition a small bit of my external hard drive to OS extended format in order to store files over 4 gb.
Am I able to use disk utility to partition my external hard drive, even though there are already files on it?

edit: nvm, a friend informed me that macs now support htfs format with a very popular driver thats out right now. now it can be windows and mac compatbiel.

I'll reply just in case anyone else has that question. You can do live partitioning in OS X on HFS+. However, if you have a FAT32 drive and you want to make 10% HFS+ that can not be done. If anyone knows any different, please correct me

Dell Mini 9 / 2gb Ram / Stec 64gb SSD / 10.6.1 / Everything works except mic input
