I'm anxious for my Vostro and my runcore to arrive so I can try this as well. I want to try Ubuntu mainly, but I am curious to see how Leopard will run on this machine.

For those of you who successfully used the runcore usb port and it not fall apart, is it a matter of gently pulling it out or a hope for the best situation?

Thanks MDM forum!!!!
This company makes great products for calibrating. I use the Pro product to calibrate dual monitors.

Ya, I've used the Spyder before. Actually I have a Monaco Xrite that I've trusted for years. Might get a ColorMunkee sometime, but not yet.

The RunCore/DellEFI method was absolutely painless and it works!

As a recommendation to anyone who wants to install software off of a CD or DVD, do this while the 10.5.6 update is downloading. During the download I put a stripped-down version of Microsoft Office 2004 (about 400 mb), and also installed EndNote X2.

Dell Mini 9, Alpine white, OS X 10.5.7, 32 GB RunCore, 2 GB Crucial RAM... 100% awesome!

I used Monaco (EZ Color?) for calibrating our scanners in the past. Good product.

Fantastic write-up! Kudos to all involved. This looks to be the absolute simplest method available. I cannot wait for my Vostro to arrive.

One quick question: Can someone explain the difference between DellEFI 1.1 final and 1.2a5? 1.2a5 is obviously a newer version in a developmental stage, but what are the key differences between the two? Which is recommended for this method of installing OSX?

Further, if I install 1.1 first can I update later to 1.2? If 1.1 works perfectly fine is there any point in upgrading?

Thanks!

Ok, yes, this may seem like I'm trying to hog credit from you guys, but my dad is trying to do the same thing as I did (the RunCore direct method), and he needed a bit more help.

I spent the night creating the following website (with pictures!) for anyone who would like a different narrative of how to install OS X the RunCore way.

http://web.me.com/matscigeek/ or http://www.waggyforpresident.com

No hogging at all! Thanks for the excellent guide and the shared credit dude, I've been wanting to do something similar but was too busy with finals. If I ever get something of my own written up I will absolutely include links to yours.
