Default Moved from 10.5.6 to win7 - 04-28-2009, 08:13 PM

OK, I tried this thing called win7 that Microsoft is trying to convince everyone to use... and to my surprise it run as well as OSX on the Mini9... well enough that I think I might actually stick with it.

I have been using OSX for the past 4 years and will most likelly continue using it in the future on my iMac and Macbook... but Microsoft for sure has delivered what Vista should have been with this "service pack" called Win7.

in my mind it is no more than a service pack and should be offered for free to all Vista license owners as an excuse for selling such a poor OS in the 1st place.

I will continue trying this thing for a while and see if I really like it or if I will move back into the OSX territory.

I'm running dual-boot on one of my laptops with XP and Win7...as far as Windows goes, Win7 is awesome.

Don't forget...the RC gets publicly released in less than a week!

Have fun with win7. I personally also like it better than vista and probably even better than xp and am considering dual booting it.
Assuming all of the source changes are in svn (the ones for 1.2a5), I'll continue working on dellefi while you are gone. If you do plan on being gone for a while, would you make me a project owner on google code?

I am not gone yet, just testing the water ;-) I will make sure I push the changes to SVN.

One thing for sure is that Flash is much more palatable on Win7 than OSX due to it's optimization toward windows. Playing flash files from youtube result in much less CPU usage. I guess HULU would probably work fine.

Overall the Win7 "Vista enhanced" UI is quite functional... albeit confusing at time. Application load time is comparable to OSX.

Sleep, sound, dual screen appear to work just peachy.

I'm glad you're not gone yet. Flash is definitely optimized for windows (and windows was meant to run on the mini 9), so probably uses the gpu more too and as a result, has better playback.
