Default External drive booting - 04-27-2009, 04:21 AM

does anyone know if it is possible to actually run windows/Mac OS X on an external drive?

I have OSX on a 16GB pen drive that I'm able to boot the Mini from, and it works just fine. I haven't however been able to find a way to boot from it without first booting from the bootloader USB stick.

Yes, I got it to install on an external drive last week. I'm using it temporary until my runcore drive arrives. I used this method and during the install process, instead of selecting the internal SSD I chose the external.

Did you make sure to run the DellEFI? It'll load the bootloader directly onto the pen drive.

Is there a benchmarking program I can use? It runs fine, as far as I can tell. Then again, I'm not expecting much out of it. No noticeable lag. I haven't had much time to mess around with it, but from my experience so far the OS seems really polished.
