Post Touchpad Driver installer and uninstaller - 04-27-2009, 02:52 AM

Hello all,

I have created an applescript installer and uninstaller linked below. The installer has the latest files from meklort are included.

Let me be clear that I did not create any of the drivers. All the drivers were created by meklort. You can check this thread for more info - Touchpad drivers - MyDellMini. All I did was create an applescript application to install the drivers.

Let me just say many thanks to meklort for creating these drivers. I most certenly don't have the tallent for that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 10: Ok, in the downloads section below there is an updated version of the installer and separate uninstaller for V17 and both versions of V18.

Update 9: V18 is Up and working - The uninstaller is not fixed yet. I will get to it later this week.
Update 8: Ok I just updated. Make sure you use the uninstall tool before installing V18. Also it is very important to change at least one slider in the new Trackpad PrefPane before restarting. I didn't and lost my mouse. If you have this problem just plug in an external mouse and change at least one slider in the new Trackpad PrefPane to fix it.

Update 7: I have added the link for installer V17. If you want to read more about the changes from meklort see this link. (http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/mac-...html#post44560)

Update 6: I have added the link for installer V16. If you want to read more about the changes from meklort see this link. (http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/mac-...html#post68902)

Update 5: You no longer have to run the removal tool if you have installed a previous version. The new one will just overwrite the old.
Updated the readme Please re-download if you got it before 6:30pm Pacific time on 5/2/09.

Update 4: You no longer have to copy the touch_res folder to your home folder.
Everyting is in .dmg rather than .zip
Updated the readme

Update 3 Added more to the readme.

Update 2 I revised the readme to include the info above and renamed the link to identify the version of kext included.

The minimum requitements for these scripts are:
Dellmini 9
osx 10.5.6
DellEFI 1.1
I have been told the scripts work on Dellefi 1.2 as well.

Please post is you have success as well as problems. I would like to know that it working well for people too.

Enjoy

Disclaimer: I created these installers for myself. I am giving them to you for free. I will not be held responsible for any problems you may have. Now, with that said. I have had used these installers with no problems what so ever. I test every version I put out. Others have had success and been very happy with them. I will try to answer any questions you may have on this forum. However I do this on my own time so no guarantee there either.

I'd like to give this a try. What exactly is included? The preference pane, ApplePS2Controller kext, and ps2 helper plist ?

I'm new at this so please dumb it down for me.

Well, I did try it but I don't think is doing what is suppose to do.
I've copied the touch_res directory to my home folder and run the install. Is asking for some password (which I enter) and then a little window comes up asking to install the extras. I confirm - is asking for user/pass and after that, nothing. All is as before - and I did reboot.

Ideas?

The preference pane, ApplePS2Controller kext and the helper plist.

If you have installed in the past you should use the remove tool first. Then follow the read me. It will ask for your admin password so make sure you are logged in as an admin user.

You need to use the remove tool first. Sorry I forgot to mention that. It sound like all your steps were correct other than that.

Also it is important that you are logged in as an admin user.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

P.S. If you are upgrading from kext 14 you won't notice much difference.

I haven't install any previous kext. This is my first try.
So I did uninstall and install again.
This time I see an item "PS2Pref..cePane" in other system preferences but no matter what I select there has no effect.

Did you update extras at the end of the remove and the install? If so make sure you restart after each.

Yes, I restart after each operation.
Any way to check if the installation is done correctly?
Do the scrips have to be on a specific directory in order to run correctly?
I run them from a directory within downloads.

It shouldn't matter for the scripts. Are you sure you have admin rights to the computer?
